Will This Seal Fit?

The H456S8 is the short-fin option for 4–6mm frameless shower glass. It is best used where two glass panels already sit quite close together, but a small vertical gap is still letting spray escape.

It should be suitable if:

  • Your glass is 4mm, 5mm or 6mm thick.
  • The gap between the glass panels is around 3mm to 6mm.
  • Your shower door is hinged or pivot-style.
  • The seal will be fitted to a straight, exposed glass edge
  • You need a vertical side seal, not a bottom seal.
  • You need a seal up to 2000mm long.

Choose another seal if:

  • Your glass is thinner than 4mm or thicker than 6mm.
  • The gap is below 3mm or above 6mm.
  • Your shower door is sliding, bi-fold, framed.
  • You need a seal for the bottom of the shower door.
  • The gap is between glass and wall, glass and tray, or inside a shower track.
  • A metal frame, trim or rail is blocking the glass edge.
  • You need a magnetic seal, drip seal, threshold seal or sliding door seal.

If the door type or gap position is different, it is worth checking the full range of vertical shower door seals before ordering.

Product Overview

The H456S8 is a clear push-fit shower door seal for 4–6mm frameless glass. It is mainly used as a slim vertical side seal between a moving shower door and a fixed glass panel.

The clear PVC channel pushes onto the exposed glass edge, while the 8mm soft fin sits across the small gap between the panels. This helps reduce light water spray without adding a large fin to a narrow opening.

This shorter-fin version is useful where the shower door already closes fairly neatly, but water still escapes through a small side gap. It gives a more discreet fit than a longer-fin seal when the gap does not need extra coverage.

The seal can usually be fitted to either the door panel or the fixed panel. Use the side where the soft fin naturally points into the gap when the door is closed.

After fitting, open and close the shower door slowly. Check that the fin does not catch, fold back the wrong way, or stop the door from closing properly.

No glue, screws or silicone are required for normal installation.

FAQ

Is H456S8 suitable for 6mm shower glass?

Yes. H456S8 is made for frameless glass from 4mm to 6mm thick, including 4mm, 5mm and 6mm glass. It should not be used on 8–10mm glass, as the channel will be too narrow for thicker glass.

What type of gap is this seal best for?

This model is best for a narrow vertical gap of around 3–6mm between two glass panels. It is a good choice when the panels are already close together and you only need a slim fin to reduce spray.

Should I choose H456S8 or H456S15?

Choose H456S8 if your 4–6mm glass has a smaller side gap of around 3–6mm. If the gap is wider, around 3–13mm, H456S15 may give better coverage because it has a longer 15mm fin.

Can this seal be fitted to a sliding shower door?

No. H456S8 is not made for sliding shower door edges or sliding door overlaps. It is mainly for hinged or pivot frameless shower doors where the seal sits vertically between two glass panels.

DO’S

  • Direct Press: Fit by pressing directly onto the glass edge to protect the surface.
  • Deep Clean: Remove all UK hard-water limescale before installation.
  • Sharp Tools: Use garden pruners for a clean, professional finish.
  • Daily Rinse: Simply wash away soap suds after your shower.

About SIMBA Seals UK

SIMBA Seals UK is a specialist UK shower door seal replacement brand, backed by a glass seal manufacturing team focused on seal profiles since 1998.

Through showerdoorseal.uk, we help customers find the right replacement seal by checking the glass thickness, gap size, seal profile, frame channel and shower door design.

Our range covers common bottom, side, magnetic and framed shower door seals. For older or harder-to-match enclosures, our wider catalogue includes over 9,000 glass seal profiles, giving customers more options when a standard seal is difficult to identify.
