You may already have found that searching for an “L shaped shower screen seal” is not as straightforward as it sounds.
You have removed the old seal and typed “L shaped shower screen seal” into Google, only to find several completely different products on the first page.
Some fit along the bottom of the glass. Others join two glass panels or sit at a corner. They may all be described as shower screen seals, but none immediately looks like the obvious replacement.
It is easy to assume that the measurements must be wrong.
In many cases, the problem comes one step earlier.
“L shaped” describes the overall layout of the shower screen. It does not refer to one particular type of seal.
What normally determines the correct replacement is not the shape of the enclosure, but where the old seal was fitted.

Start with where the old seal was fitted
Go back to the bathroom and find the original position of the seal.
If it clips onto the bottom of a shower screen or door, begin with a shower door bottom seal.
If it runs vertically between two fixed glass panels that meet at a 90° angle, check the 90° shower screen corner seals.
If two fixed panels sit in a straight line with a joining strip between them, you are probably looking for an H-shaped seal.
If one panel is fixed and the other opens, with the two meeting at 90° when closed, you are more likely to need a folding screen seal than a fixed corner seal.
Identifying the fitting arrangement first is generally quicker than comparing page after page of products labelled “L shaped shower screen seal”.
If the old seal runs along the bottom
Check the lowest edge of the glass. If the old seal ran along the bottom, where water travels down the screen, it is normally a shower door bottom seal.
If the fixed and moving panels have the same glass thickness and bottom gap, they may be able to use the same seal, cut into separate lengths, provided the fin does not interfere with the opening panel. Many bottom seals are around 1000mm long, so make sure each section you need to cover is shorter than the product.
Even if the original screen used two different bottom profiles, you do not always need to match them exactly. What matters more is whether the new seal fits the glass and covers the gap between the glass and the bath edge, threshold or shower tray.
Once you reach the relevant collection, measure the glass itself. Do not measure the outside width of the old plastic channel. Then choose a fin that reaches across the gap without being heavily compressed.
A fin that is too short may not cover the gap. One that is too long may drag against the bath edge or threshold, make the door harder to open, or pull the seal away from the glass.
A longer fin does not automatically provide better protection against water.
If two bottom seals meet at the L-shaped corner, check whether the original screen used a separate corner piece. Some arrangements use two trimmed sections of seal at the corner, while others need a matching corner connector.
Two fixed glass panels meeting at 90°
Stand outside the enclosure and check the corner. If two glass panels form a fixed L shape and neither panel opens, the vertical strip between them is normally a 90° shower screen corner seal.
These profiles join two fixed glass panels, cover the centre joint and help reduce water passing through the corner.
Before choosing one, make sure both panels are fixed. Then check the thickness of each pane and compare the end profile of the old seal.
The end profile is often more useful than a photograph of the full length. It shows the direction of the glass channels, the centre support and how each pane enters the seal.
Some corner seals push directly onto the glass edge. Others work with an existing frame channel or another fixing method, so read the fitting instructions before ordering.
Do not choose a fixed corner seal simply because an opening door also forms a 90° angle when closed. A fixed corner profile is not designed to move repeatedly or allow for the twisting and compression caused by an opening panel.
A fixed panel meeting an opening screen
Close the screen, then gently move one of the glass panels. If one side stays fixed while the other can still open inwards or outwards, the seal needs to work differently.
This arrangement is common on folding bath screens, hinged screens and places where a fixed panel meets an opening door. The glass may still form a 90° angle when closed, but the joint has to move with the door. In this case, check folding shower screen seals or glass-to-glass seals intended for moving panels.

For the folding screen seals shown here, start with the glass thickness. The three options fit 5–6mm, 8mm and 10mm glass, while the flexible centre section can cover a closed gap of up to around 40mm.
Check the screen when it is fully closed. If the panels form a right angle but one side still needs to open inwards or outwards, a seal with a flexible centre section is more likely to fit.
If either panel needs to open, do not choose the seal as though both sides were fixed.
Two fixed glass panels in a straight line
If none of the previous arrangements matches, stand in front of the screen and check how the two panes line up. If they sit almost in a straight line, with only a narrow joining strip between them, the replacement may be an H-shaped seal rather than a corner profile.
The term “180°” simply means that the two glass panels sit in a straight line rather than forming a right angle.
Make sure neither panel opens, then measure the thickness of both panes. You should also check whether there is a gap between them and how much distance the chosen H-shaped seal can cover.
H-shaped shower door seals do not all cover the same gap. Glass thickness matters, but so do the end profile and the stated gap range.
Not finding the original brand does not mean there is no replacement
After years of use, the number printed on the old seal may have worn away. The original brand may no longer supply the same part either. Searching only by brand name or an old part number may not lead to an exact match.
Matching the packaging, colour or brand is not the most useful place to start.
It is better to compare where the old seal was fitted, whether the glass moves, the glass thickness, the gap it needs to cover and the end profile.
When those details match, a replacement profile is more likely to fit than one that looks similar from the outside but has a different internal shape.
However, similar measurements do not make every seal interchangeable. Fixed corner seals, H-shaped connectors, folding screen seals and magnetic seals have different structures. Two products may both fit 8mm glass and still be intended for completely different positions.

If you are still unsure, photographs help more than a model number
If the collection pages still do not make the choice clear, send the supplier a few useful photographs.
Step back and take one picture of the whole enclosure so the fixed panels, opening door and corner arrangement can all be seen. Then move closer and photograph the original fitting position. This should show whether the seal sits along the bottom, at a 90° corner, between straight fixed panels or on the edge of a moving door.
Next, point the cut end of the old seal towards the camera and photograph the cross-section clearly. Place a ruler beside the glass edge or gap so the measurement can be read directly from the picture. A photograph of the full front face of the seal is rarely enough, as it does not show the channels or internal structure.
These pictures will normally give a supplier enough information to narrow the choice down to a bottom seal, fixed 90° corner seal, H-shaped connector or folding screen seal.
“L shaped” is only the starting point
Searching for an “L shaped shower screen seal” is not wrong, but the phrase only describes the general layout of the enclosure. It does not identify the exact replacement part.
A more reliable approach is to start with the position of the old seal, then use the relevant collection to compare glass thickness and gap size. If the answer is still unclear, send SIMBA photographs of the full screen, the fitting position, the end profile and the measurements.
That removes the need to keep guessing between pages of similar-looking “L shaped” products.
