Choosing the Right Seal

Great question!

Each SIMBA seal is made for a specific gap.

If the gap’s too small, the fin bends and wears out faster.

If it’s too wide, water can leak.

We test every seal to make sure it fits perfectly.

Check the size — it really matters. Every seal is designed for a certain glass thickness.

“Universal” options don’t always fit snugly, because height and grip strength also play a part.

If the seal isn’t tall or tight enough, it won’t hold properly.

Our shower screen seals are designed to fill gaps at the bottom and sides of doors and windows to prevent water leakage, so they do offer some soundproofing.

However, keep in mind that bathrooms aren’t completely sealed spaces, so sound can still travel through other areas (like the top of the door).

It won't completely block out noise, but it can help reduce it a bit.

Unfortunately, no.

Every shower door is fitted a bit differently, and magnets need to line up perfectly to work.

That’s why measuring your glass and gap as accurately as possible is super important.

Yes, of course!

We make our own seals at SIMBA, so we can create custom sizes or OEM parts that fit your project perfectly.

Installation & Fitting

No worries — we’ve got a quick guide for that! Check out:

Shower Screen Seal: Which Way Round Should It Go?

We’ve put together a detailed cutting guide—check out our article "How to Cut Shower Seals" for more info.

Forget the kitchen scissors — grab a pair of garden shears instead!

They make neat, easy cuts without cracking the seal.

For step-by-step instructions, check out our installation and maintenance blog, where we have detailed steps and a video guide.

Yes — in most cases, you don’t need to take the door off.

Most SIMBA seals can be fitted while the door stays in place.

Just make sure to follow the installation guide for a smooth fit.

No, please avoid using any lubricants, shower gels, or similar products during installation.

Using these can cause the seal to pop out again, leaving lubricant residue behind, which can speed up mould growth and deterioration.

A good shower door seal needs to grip the glass firmly — in our tests, it should take over 50N of force to slide it off.

That ensures it stays in place and keeps your bathroom dry.

We don’t recommend it.

Shower seals are designed to be replaced, not patched up.

If it’s damaged or the wrong size, the best solution is to order a new, properly fitting seal.

Tape or glue might hold it temporarily, but it won’t last.

It’s best not to.

Heating the seal can weaken its grip on the glass.

Pick the right size and follow the installation instructions — our seals are designed so anyone can fit them without any tricks.

If your shower has a fixed panel or the door opens with less than 25 mm between the bottom and the floor, standard seals can be tricky to fit.

In these cases, try a self-adhesive seal — it still gives the same great protection without the struggle.
