A customer comparing replacement shower door seals in a UK DIY shop.

Looking for a replacement shower door seal near you? Screwfix, B&Q or a local bathroom supplier might be your first stop.

If you need a common seal and your local branch has one in stock, you could have it fitted the same day. Easy enough.

Trouble is, you might drive over only to find they've sold out. Or there's one on the shelf that looks close enough, but isn't quite the same as your old seal. You've made the trip, so it's tempting to give it a go.

If you can't find the right one locally, specialist UK online suppliers are worth a look.

Shower seals aren't usually expensive, but buying the wrong one is a nuisance. It might not grip the glass, could drag when you open the door, or leave you with the same leak you started with.

Where Can You Buy Shower Door Seals Near You?

Screwfix and B&Q are worth checking for common replacement shower seals. If you're hoping to collect one today, check the stock at your local branch first.

A product being listed online doesn't always mean it's available to pick up nearby. Some are delivery-only, while others come from third-party sellers. Worth checking before setting off.

Local bathroom suppliers are another option, especially if you've still got a piece of the old seal. Take it along and let someone see the cross-section. That's usually more helpful than trying to describe a clear plastic strip over the phone.

Just bear in mind that some bathroom showrooms mainly sell complete enclosures, screens and fittings. They may not stock individual replacement seals, so a quick call can save you a wasted journey.

What If Your Local Shop Doesn't Have the Right Seal?

Sometimes the shop has plenty of shower seals. Just not the one you need.

We had a customer who bought a bottom seal from Amazon. It gripped the glass, but the bottom fin was too long. Every time the shower door opened, the fin got pushed against the tray and the whole seal came off.

It looked like a suitable replacement. In use, it wasn't.

Two seals can fit the same glass thickness and still behave very differently. If your local shop only has a universal model, it's worth checking where universal shower door seals do and don't work before buying.

Older shower enclosures can be particularly awkward. Sliding doors, curved bath screens and some magnetic seals have profiles that aren't always easy to find in local shops, especially when you no longer know the original make or model.

Online, you've got more time to compare the profile drawings. Look at the channel, fin shape and measurements rather than relying on the glass thickness printed in the product title.

You can browse replacement shower door seals at SIMBA Seals UK, including different profiles and sizes. A replacement doesn't always have to be identical to the original, provided it fits the glass, the position and the gap properly.

Still have the old seal? Keep a short piece and take a clear photo of the end so the profile is visible. You'll also need the glass thickness and the gap the seal has to cover.

We often receive photos from customers asking whether we have something similar. Sometimes there's no measurement at all — just a picture of a seal they think might be right.

We usually need to ask a few more questions before suggesting a replacement. Two profiles can look almost identical in a photo and still fit differently.

If the old seal has already been thrown away, take a picture of the glass edge and where the seal used to sit. Include any rollers, hinges or metal fittings nearby.

Before ordering, check the stock, dispatch location and estimated delivery time. Longer magnetic seals may have different delivery arrangements from shorter bottom strips.

SIMBA Seals UK offers UK mainland delivery. If you're struggling to identify a replacement, send us a few photos of the old seal and where it fits. We'll have a look and see whether we have a suitable match.

If your local shop has exactly what you need, great. If not, it's worth taking a little longer to find one that fits, rather than making another trip to return the wrong one.
