How to Choose a Shower Screen Corner Seal
Match the Way the Glass Panels Meet
Look down at the corner from above and compare the position of the two glass panels with the fitted diagrams in the product images. Check which direction each panel enters the corner and whether they form the same overall shape when viewed from above.
The glass arrangement is the first thing to match. You do not need every part of the old plastic profile to look identical, but the two panels must enter the new profile from the same directions as those shown in the product image.
Two shower screen corner seals may both be described as 90° profiles but hold the glass differently. One may place the panels close together, while another may use a wider centre section or an extended rigid edge. If the fitted diagram does not match the way your glass meets, do not choose the profile from the angle or glass thickness alone.
Check Whether Either Panel Moves at This Corner
Think about what happens when the shower is used. If either glass panel opens, pivots, folds or moves away from the other panel at this corner, a rigid glass-to-glass corner profile is not suitable.
A fixed panel and an opening shower door may still form a 90° shape when the door is closed. The difference is that the door must separate from the seal when it opens. This normally requires a vertical door seal rather than a rigid corner profile.
If neither panel moves at the joint and the corner remains in the same position during normal use, continue by checking the glass thickness.
Choose the Correct Glass Thickness
Measure each glass panel separately after confirming that the fitted arrangement matches. Measure the glass itself, without including the old plastic profile.
Some models accept a small range of glass thicknesses, while others are produced as separate 8mm, 10mm or 12mm versions. Certain profiles also require both panels to be the same thickness.
Use the stated Fits Glass Thickness measurement on the individual product page. The channel opening shown in a technical drawing may appear slightly smaller because the profile is designed to grip the glass once fitted.
