Check Before You Buy
This seal is suitable if:
- Your shower glass is 8mm thick.
- The lower edge of the glass is straight and exposed.
- Your bottom gap is approximately 7–13mm.
- You need a 14mm soft fin beneath the glass.
- The profile shape matches your existing bottom seal or fitting position.
- Your required finished length is 950mm or less.
Choose another seal if:
- Your glass is not 8mm thick.
- Your bottom gap is clearly larger than around 13mm.
- Your glass edge is curved.
- A metal frame or bottom channel prevents the U-channel from fitting directly onto the glass.
- You need a magnetic, adhesive or track-in seal.
Rigid Support with a Trim-to-Fit Soft Fin
RY0494 is a 950mm bottom seal for 8mm shower glass, combining a rigid U-shaped glass channel with a second rigid curved section alongside the door.
The rigid sections keep the profile in position, while the 14mm flexible fin underneath provides the actual contact with the tray or threshold.
This makes RY0494 particularly useful for bottom gaps of around 7–13mm, where a shorter fin may not reach far enough.
If the glass thickness and profile shape are correct but the 14mm fin reaches slightly too far, the soft bottom fin can be carefully shortened with a small pair of scissors. Trim only a little at a time until it makes contact without being heavily compressed or dragging excessively as the door moves.
The seal pushes directly onto straight 8mm glass and can also be cut down from the supplied 950mm length to match the width of the door.
