This seal is suitable if:
- You want a 13mm raised threshold on a shower tray.
- The tray provides at least 8mm of flat, smooth mounting space.
- You have a compatible framed-door T-slot that can accept the 8mm base.
- You need a flexible profile that can be trimmed to size.
- Your required finished length is 950mm or less.
- A bottom shower door seal will still be able to move freely above or against the profile.
Choose another profile if:
- Your available mounting width is less than 8mm.
- The framed-door slot cannot accept the 8mm T-profile.
- The 13mm height would interfere with the door opening.
- Your bottom seal would be heavily compressed against the threshold.
- You need a very low-profile water barrier.
Suitable Applications & Installation Notes
RY3463 is a flexible T-shaped shower seal with a 13mm upright section and an 8mm base.
It can be used in two different ways.
For a shower tray installation, the base can be bonded directly onto a flat, smooth surface using the pre-applied adhesive backing. This creates a raised water barrier that can work together with a compatible bottom shower door seal.
The same profile can also be inserted into a suitable T-slot channel on some framed shower doors, allowing it to work as a replacement framed-door seal where the slot dimensions are compatible.
Because the upright section is 13mm high, check the relationship between this threshold and the bottom seal before fitting. Where both seals meet, the flexible fins should normally overlap by no more than about 5mm. Too much overlap can cause excessive drag, folding or resistance when the door moves.
The strip is supplied in a 950mm length and can be cut easily with heavy-duty scissors.
Installation Tips
For adhesive installation:
- Clean and dry the shower tray thoroughly.
- Peel away the protective backing from the pre-applied adhesive.
- Position the strip carefully before pressing it down.
- Press firmly along the full length.
- Try to fit it correctly the first time rather than repeatedly lifting and re-sticking it.
- For the strongest bond, allow 7–10 hours before using the shower.
For a framed-door T-slot installation, make sure the track is clean and wide enough for the 8mm base before inserting the profile.
